DFI - Media session

Last night I saw this slide at our Toki Pounamu meeting at Awahono school. The thing that 'clicked' with me here is how easy it is for ALL children to share and connect with others. I have some very shy children in my class, yet they will be able to share and connect with others using any of the ways discussed.

So coming to the DFI session today after last night's meeting, was great timing.

Something that touched my heart today was how Pt England School has live streaming of their school activities to connect with others, especially whānau. What an incredible opportunity for those families!

I already had a you tube channel, but I found making a playlist on you tube was really interesting today. Because I don't have a digital classroom, I've never thought about putting information videos on a you tube playlist. I've only used it for appropriate classroom music before.

When learning about google slides, I like the idea of not using the themes to allow children's creativity to shine. There are so many ways to use slides that I have not realised too. I mainly use it for presentations.

The revisit to google drawing was good to experience today too. Whilst I love all the things I could do on google drawing, it's a bit difficult to create something for a purpose when my class doesn't have devices. However, this may change next academic year so I will be spending time 'playing' with this and learning interesting ways it could be used for.

Another important thing that I will be taking away from today is that we've got a huge amount of information, resources but best of all, links of 'how to' videos and all sorts of information to make these work for us.
