Term 4 - Preparation and Progress

As we are gearing up for the end of the year, I've been trying to put in as much work with the children as possible. I'd love to push them that bit further so they can have an easier start to their 2020 academic year. As my mentor teacher said, term 4 gets so many interruptions that the beginning of the term should be focussed on pushing the children to achieve more success before the 'madness' begins.

For our school, this fun madness includes: interviewing locals about the history in the area, a school gala day, an end of year concert, an end of year beach day, end of year data collation, sailing opportunity for children and just the 'rounding up' of the year.

As usual, the children in my class are so excited and enthusiastic about the things to come. I sit back and listen to their chatter as we talk about these different events, and I think how much the conversation has changed since the beginning of the year.

With running records and asttle writing assessments complete, the progress these amazing children have made just makes me glow. With the information from the PAT testing I can analyse the gaps in learning and focus on filling these gaps with the few weeks we have left.

I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks with Kōtuku, celebrating our learning and the awesome groups of people we've become.
